After opening the 2009 season at Aloha Stadium, Hawaii will play its next three games on the road, closing the month with a rare Wednesday game at Louisiana Tech to begin the Western Athletic Conference season.

The Warriors scheduled back-to-back nonconference road games at Washington State and UNLV on Sept. 12 and 19 and will have 10-day breaks on either side of their trip to Ruston, La., for a nationally televised game at LaTech on Sept. 30.

School officials had been waiting on the completion of the WAC schedule as the conference worked out its lineup of games to be televised by ESPN. The rest of the WAC's national television schedule is expected to be announced today.

UH released its 13-game schedule yesterday and the September trips represent half of the Warriors' six-game road schedule. They alternate home and road dates in October and have one mainland trip in November.

“;I think it's a competitive schedule and a challenging schedule. I think its a good home schedule for our fans,”; Hawaii head coach Greg McMackin said. “;We have to come out with great desire and a sense of urgency in our first three ballgames.”;

UH opens the season with a Friday home game against Central Arkansas on Sept. 4 before embarking on their trip to Seattle and Las Vegas. UH officials had requested that the team have a bye or a home game following the road trip. The Warriors will have a bye the week of Sept. 26 before heading to Louisiana for the WAC opener.

A home game against Fresno State on Oct. 10 begins a stretch of nine straight Saturday games for the Warriors.

October also features a home game against defending WAC champion Boise State on Oct. 24 and road games at Idaho (Oct. 17) and Nevada (Oct. 31).

They play four home games in November—Utah State (Nov. 7), New Mexico State (Nov. 14) and Navy (Nov. 28). Their last road game of the season will be Nov. 21 at San Jose State. The Warriors close the regular season against Wisconsin on Dec. 5.

They play four of their last five games at Aloha Stadium, closing with nonconference home games against Navy and Wisconsin.
