HPU tennis teams fall in Georgia
Hawaii Pacific's tennis teams were swept yesterday by Armstrong Atlantic (Ga.) yesterday at the AASU Tennis Complex in Savannah Ga.
The No. 6-ranked Sea Warriors men's team fell to the No. 5 Pirates 8-1. Paul Fitzgerald, at No. 4 singles, picked up HPU's only win.
HPU's No. 18-ranked women's team also fell 8-1 to the top-ranked Lady Pirates. Aleksandr Stankovic and Sandra Wikstrom defeated Kathleen Henry and Tina Ronel in No. 3 doubles for the Sea Warriors' lone victory.
Stanislaus sweeps twin bill from UHH
Cal State Stanislaus took two softball games from Hawaii-Hilo with 10-0 and 4-1 victories yesterday at Turlock, Calif.
In the opener, CSUS (18-10) jumped out to a 9-0 lead after two innings en route to the blowout. The Vulcans only mustered two hits.
Sarah Weisskopf drove in the only run for UHH (17-16) in the second game.
» Chaminade (7-25, 8-12 PacWest) swept Notre Dame de Namur (8-25-1, 0-18) for the second time this season with wins of 6-1 and 6-2 yesterday at San Mateo, Calif.
Silverswords freshman Anuhea Yamaguchi hit her first career home run and drove in five runs on the day.
