$1,000 awarded for gerontology careers

The Hawaii Pacific Gerontological Society is accepting applications for $1,000 scholarships for those interested in careers related to service for the aging. The application deadline is Tuesday.
Undergraduate and community college students are encouraged to apply, including those pursuing different majors but who can demonstrate a strong interest in gerontology.
Criteria include Hawaii residency; a minimum 3.0 GPA, with at least one course work in gerontology or aging, or volunteer or professional work experience in an aging-related agency or program; an essay describing future career plans in the aging field; and documented financial need. Award recipients will be notified by early June.
