Seemingly in unison with the Hilton Hawaiian Village's regular fireworks show off Waikiki Beach, Kamehameha exploded offensively for four runs in the third and fourth innings en route to a 12-4 victory over Saint Louis yesterday evening at Ala Wai Community Park. The game ended after six of the scheduled seven innings by virtue of a mutual decision by the coaches.

The Warriors received a double, triple and four RBIs from junior catcher Keanu Carmichael, and took advantage of 10 Crusader walks and two hit batters. Six of those free passes resulted in runs for Kamehameha.

The Warriors have reeled off four consecutive wins since losing its ILH opener to 'Iolani, 9-6, on March 17. Kamehameha improved to 4-1 in league play, and remain in second place within the ILH, while the Crusaders dropped to 3-2.

Just as the fireworks were exploding off in the distance beyond the fence in right field, Kamehameha brought home four runs in the third inning thanks in part to Piikea Kitamura's RBI single, followed by Carmichael's run-scoring triple.

The Warriors added four more runs in the fourth frame despite collecting only two hits. Carmichael again proved key to Kamehameha's offensive rhythm as the junior catcher roped a two-run double to deep center field to put his squad up 9-2. Josh Wong tripled to start off the inning, and Kitamura scored his second run of the game after being walked intentionally.

Carmichael's sacrifice fly in the fifth inning capped Kamehameha's three-run output, and effectively iced the victory for the Warriors.

Alika Pruett earned the win for Kamehameha, striking out seven in a complete-game effort.

Saint Louis starter Chris Chung took the loss, surrendering seven runs on four hits through three innings. The right-handed hurler made it hard on himself, allowing four walks, hitting two batters, and unleashing two wild pitches, one allowing a run to score in the third inning.

Saint Louis returns to Ala Wai Community Park for a game with Mid-Pacific today at noon, while Kamehameha faces five-time defending state champion Punahou tonight at Central Oahu Regional Park. The 7 p.m. contest between the Warriors and Buffanblu will be televised live on OC-16.
