Early bird scores gift card

Wet Seal will be celebrating the opening of its newly remodeled store at Windward Mall on Saturday, and the first 100 customers will receive a gift cards good toward in-store purchases. The store will open at 10 a.m.

In addition, one lucky winner will get a gift card valued at $100. Wet Seal is known for its trendy fashions offered at competitive prices, so $100 will likely get you a complete ensemble, including accessories.

The store is located on the upper level in the Macy's wing.

Pass sale helps Tap Project Hawaii

Mystery behind Venetian masks

“;Elixir of Love,”; a Venetian Mask Ball, will take place 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Diamond Head Grill, marking an opportunity to don your most elaborate costume and mask.

There will be food and wine from 5 to 7 p.m., and performances and music from 7 to 10 p.m. by Willow Chang, Sabrina Fox, Lana Saldania, DJ Nocturna, DJ Modboy and Mr. Nick. The benefit for the American Heart Association supports its Go Red for Women Initiative aimed toward wiping out heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women.

There will also be a silent auction, Venetian masquerade contest for the most original mask, astrological readings, prizes and giveaways.

Tickets are $50, available at The Wine Stop at 1809 S. King St. and The Mystic Eye, formerly Prosperity Corner at 1126 12th Ave.

 

Treat your feet to Foot Candy

Macy's Ala Moana is hosting the shoe party of the season with its Foot Candy Event taking place 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Women's Shoe Department.

There will be music, games and a candy bar set up for you as you try on shoes. Those who spend $150 or more in the shoe department will also receive a $25 Macy's gift card.

'Moonlight' gala to honor local doctor

Dr. Patricia Blanchette will be honored for her achievements in the field of geriatric medicine at the Alzheimer's Association's “;Moonlight & Memories”; gala on April 4.

The event, to be held at a private downtown location from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., will include a silent auction to include overnight respite care at a premier retirement community for those living with Alzheimer's disease.

Blanchette is a tenured professor and chairwoman of the Department of Geriatric Medicine at the John A. Burns School of Medicine. She also served on the Alzheimer's Association National Board and helped develop programs that provide training and consultations to caregiving families.
