Purse-snatching suspect is nabbed
Bystanders helped police capture a man yesterday who allegedly tried to grab a woman's purse in Waikiki, police said.
At about 2:30 p.m. the man, in his 20s, ran up behind two local women in a crosswalk at Kuhio and Liliuokalani avenues and tried to snatch one of their purses, police said.
The women resisted, and the man fled empty-handed down Kuhio Avenue.
Witnesses pursued the man until police caught him on Tusitala Street. He was booked on suspicion of second-degree attempted robbery.

3 with guns sought in home invasion

Police were looking for three men armed with handguns in connection with a home invasion robbery in Aiea on Tuesday.
Police said the men, all wearing masks, went into the home at 98-238 Hekaha St. at about 2:15 p.m.
Each suspect had a handgun and threatened the three people in the house while demanding property, police said.
The suspects fled on foot, police said. None of the people in the house — two men, ages 29 and 43, and a 20-year-old woman — were hurt.
The suspects were described only as men in their 20s and 30s.

Man is arrested in car break-ins
Police arrested a 43-year-old man who allegedly broke into several cars in Waikele on Tuesday.
At about 4:30 p.m. officers were sent to investigate a report of someone breaking into a car. As the officers arrived they saw a suspect, who fled in another car. As the officers began to follow the suspect, he crashed the car he was driving and tried to get away on foot, police said.
Officers caught him on Paiwa Street, police said. The suspect then threatened an officer and resisted arrest, police said.
He was eventually subdued and arrested for investigation of auto theft, three counts of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, second-degree terroristic threatening and resisting arrest.
Police were investigating whether the car the suspect was using was stolen.

Arrestee accused in domestic assault
Police arrested a 27-year-old man Tuesday who allegedly assaulted his girlfriend this month.
Police said the suspect and the victim, 28, who have a child together, were arguing at about 5:40 p.m. on March 8 when the suspect assaulted the woman with a “;dangerous weapon.”;
The suspect fled and the woman refused medical treatment, police said.
Undercover officers found the suspect Tuesday and arrested him for investigation of second-degree assault.
Man, 27, alleges attack by girlfriend
Police arrested a 27-year-old woman who allegedly assaulted her boyfriend.
Police said the suspect and the boyfriend, also 27, were arguing as the boyfriend was driving in Makiki at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police said the suspect assaulted the man with a sharp-edged weapon. The woman got out of the car, and the boyfriend drove to a relative's home in Makiki, where he reported the incident to police.
The woman was found at Liholiho Street and Wilder Avenue and later arrested for investigation of second-degree assault.
3 teens arrested in mo-ped thefts
Police arrested three teenage boys who allegedly tried to steal two mo-peds early Tuesday.
Police said a 25-year-old man looked out from his apartment at about 1:20 a.m. and saw the boys stealing his mo-ped as well as one that belonged to a neighbor, a 45-year-old man.
Police said the 25-year-old confronted one of the boys, 14, and all three suspects fled. The man caught the 14-year-old, while officers caught two 15-year-old boys nearby.
All three boys were arrested for investigation of second-degree theft and then released pending investigation.

Man, 89, beaten by son, police say
A 57-year-old Kailua man has been charged with beating his 89-year-old bedridden father apparently because he got feces on himself while changing his father's bedsheets, police said.
William Singer of Aoloa Street was charged Monday night with second-degree assault. His bail was set at $15,000.
Singer's father is totally dependent on his son for care, police said. At about 10 p.m. March 8, Singer became angry when he was trying to change his father's soiled bedsheets. Singer struck his father in the face an unknown number of times, causing a detached cornea that required surgery to repair, police said.
Police arrested Singer at 9 a.m. Monday at Honolulu District Court.
