A child development center is slated for construction at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii now that almost $20 million from the recently enacted federal economic stimulus legislation is on its way.
Hawaii U.S. Sens. Daniel Inouye, chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and Daniel Akaka are announcing the funding.
The Democratic senators say the servicemen and servicewomen assigned to the base will be happy to know that their children are cared for in a facility with educational and training rooms.
They say that knowledge will mean less family stress and increased work productivity.
