Rickert cut as CFO of Maui Land

Maui Land & Pineapple Co., which laid off 100 employees in February in a second round of job cuts and reported earlier this month a $70.6 million fourth-quarter loss, said in a regulatory filing yesterday that it has terminated Chief Financial Officer Fred Rickert after eliminating his position as vice president/treasurer.

Rickert earned total compensation of $591,007 in 2007, according to the most recent information available with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Wedding Cafe plans free giveaways

The Wedding Cafe is hosting “;Bride Wars,”; based on the popular movie, at Ward Warehouse's center stage at noon Sunday.

Local brides and grooms can participate in more than 30 challenges, which include a cake-eating contest for a $250 wedding cake gift certificate, as well as a garter-flinging contest for a $250 tuxedo rentals gift certificate.

More than 50 prizes will be given away courtesy of those in the industry, according to Wedding Cafe owner Tanna Dang.

Though the event is free, participants must pre-register at the Cafe the same day between 10 a.m. to noon, and be present to win.
