An Oahu grand jury returned an indictment yesterday charging University of Hawaii football player JoPierre Davis with crimes that he entered a female student's dorm room without permission, molested her, then, four months later, punched her in the face in a Waikiki nightclub.

The indictment charges Davis, 21, with first-degree burglary, second-degree sexual assault, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, two counts of third-degree assault and marijuana possession.

His bail is $200,000.

According to the indictment, Davis entered the 20-year-old woman's university dorm room on Sept. 28 and molested her.

Police said the incident started the night before when Davis showed up uninvited at the woman's birthday party and groped her.

The woman told police she did not report either incident to authorities because she was extremely embarrassed, depressed and afraid to tell her parents.

Police said Davis groped the woman again at a Waikiki nightclub on Jan. 18. The woman said she slapped Davis in the face and then left the dance floor.

Police said Davis then punched the woman in the mouth, knocking her unconscious. Davis is also charged with assaulting a 26-year-old man in the nightclub.

Davis played in all 14 of UH's football games last season on special teams and as a reserve cornerback. He was expected to compete for a spot as starting cornerback in the fall.

Coach Greg McMackin suspended Davis indefinitely following his arrest last month.
