Wilson named honorary tourney chair

PGA Tour pro Dean Wilson is honorary chairman for the First Hawaiian Bank REHAB Golf Challenge on May 27 at the Hawaii Prince Golf Club.

Registration is open for the three-person scramble format teams.

USC edges Hawaii in water polo

Michelle Stein of No. 2 USC scored with 1:58 left to edge No. 4 Hawaii 7-6 in a women's water polo match yesterday at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

Leonie Der Molen and Carmen Eggens scored three goals each to lead the Rainbow Wahine (9-7, 1-4 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation).

Stein and Joelle Bekhazi scored twice each for the Trojans, who improved to 15-1 and 4-0.

Brigham Young-Hawaii topples UHH

Brigham Young-Hawaii's Jenny Chin rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Nicole Campbell of Hawaii-Hilo in a 6-0 women's tennis win for the Division II second-ranked Seasiders over the Vulcans yesterday at Laie.

BYUH's Ayako Ikeda and Shawni Porter only lost one game each in their two-set singles sweeps.

» Rong Ma, Agnel Peter, Manu Bajpai and Romeo Juhasz all won singles and doubles matches for the BYUH men's team in a 5-1 win over Hawaii-Hilo at Laie.

The doubles team of Aaron Tada and Justin Dugan had the lone win for the Vulcans.

» Wyoming defeated Chaminade 7-2 in women's tennis yesterday at Central Oahu Regional Park.

Carly Van Hollen, Rebecca Berger, Sarah Summerfield and Jamie Nelson both won singles and doubles matches for the Cowgirls.

Grand Canyon stops UHH in baseball

Grand Canyon erupted for three runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a three-run lead and then held off Hawaii-Hilo to two runs in the bottom half of the inning to secure a 4-3 baseball victory in the first game of a doubleheader yesterday at Francis Wong Stadium.

Jon Stanko drove in two runs and Austin Stockfisch had two hits for the Antelopes (10-15, 4-6 PacWest).

Peter Rodgers led the Vulcans (8-8, 3-4) with three hits.

The second game was suspended with no outs and a runner on base for the Antelopes in the top of the second inning and will resume today.

Dixie State sweeps Chaminade

Dixie State's Lauren Folta pitched a six-hitter to lead the Red Storm to a 6-2 victory over Chaminade yesterday to secure a sweep in a softball doubleheader at Central Oahu Regional Park.

Dixie State won the first game 3-1 on Brittnie Whipple's two-hitter.

Kristine Mihara had two hits for Chaminade in the second game.
