Healthy and fun

Teens can loose weight and have fun at Wellspring Hawaii's Big Island summer camp in June.

Campers will learn how to live a healthier life through diet, activity management and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

A 'sleepy' talk

New York Times bestseller author James Maas will discuss how sleep habits can increase alertness, productivity, creativity and the quality of life Tuesday in 'Iolani School's Seto Hall.

Maas is the author of “;Power Sleep: The Revolutionary Program that Prepares Your Mind for Peak Performance.”; He also wrote the children's bedtime story “;Remmy and the Brain Train,”; and has produced nine PBS TV specials.

Maas will speak from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A book signing and sale will follow.

Annual cancer day

The Cancer Research Center of Hawaii is holding its annual Cancer Research Information Day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. next Saturday in the Manoa Grand Ballroom of the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii.

The free event features talks on high cancer rates among native Hawaiians, ovarian cancer and what's being done to diffuse its impact, new treatments of colorectal cancers and innovative treatments of lung cancer.

A light breakfast and lunch will be available on a first come basis. Free parking will be available, too.
