Big Isle police ask aid in road death
The Hawaii County Police Department is asking the public for help in finding the driver in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Kau in December.
John Patrick Burns, 43, of Ocean View, died from injuries he sustained in a motor vehicle/pedestrian crash on Hokulani Boulevard in the Hawaii Ocean View Ranchos subdivision sometime between 11:30 p.m. Dec. 3 and 1:08 a.m. Dec. 4.
Police ask anyone with information about this case to call officer Thomas Koyanagi at 326-4646, extension 229.
2 home-invasion suspects sought
Police are looking for two men in a home-invasion robbery in Wahiawa early yesterday morning.
A 63-year-old man reported that two men entered his Leilehua Road home sometime between 1 and 2 a.m. and punched him in the face while he was asleep. He said he lost consciousness. The man regained consciousness and he was carried into the bathroom and dropped into the bathtub, where he blacked out again, police said.
The man regained consciousness at about 4 p.m. and called police. He was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for severe head and facial injuries, police said.
