Wie splits with William Morris

Michelle Wie will have a “;fresh start”; after splitting with the William Morris Agency LLC as she continues her first full season on the LPGA Tour, her father said.

Wie, a 19-year-old sophomore at Stanford University, and the talent agency parted ways yesterday after almost four years together, the agency and Wie's father, B.J. Wie, confirmed in separate e-mails.

“;Michelle is very excited about this season and a fresh start,”; B.J. Wie said in an e-mailed response to questions about the split. “;Michelle enjoyed working with WMA, and has nothing but positive things to say about the company. This is a fresh start for Michelle on the course and off.”;

William Morris, a Los Angeles-based talent and literary agency, dates back to 1898 and has represented screen actors such as Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe.

Wie ranked fifth on Forbes magazine's 2008 list of highest- paid female athletes, with $12 million worth of agreements with Nike Inc. and Sony Corp.

Tamagawa, Freestone team up for win

Glenn Tamagawa of Wailua Golf Course and Tom Freestone of Princeville shot a two-day total of 7-under 137 to win the Assistant Professional Four-Ball Championship at Honolulu Country Club yesterday.

They beat 21 other teams of island professionals.

Patacchia ousted in Quiksilver Pro

Adriano de Souza of Brazil beat Fred Patacchia of Hawaii 17.10 to 11.00 in the fourth round of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast surf contest yesterday in Australia.

De Souza went on to the final of the Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour contest, where he lost to Joel Parkinson 18.83 to 11.30.

Sea Warriors rip Northwestern College

Hawaii Pacific beat Northwestern College (Minn.) 7-1 in men's tennis at Central Oahu Regional Park yesterday.

The Sea Warriors' teams of Nicola Petrov and Jan Hroch along with Anton Samuilau and Jonathan Love didn't lose a game in their victories in Nos. 2 and 3 doubles.

» HPU tripped Northwestern College in a women's tennis match at Central Oahu Regional Park yesterday.

Nina Mihova, Tinka Mihova, Aleksandra Stankovic and Lauren Shim didn't lose a game en route to victories in singles matches for the Sea Warriors.

» Verena Preikschas led Cal State Stanislaus to a 7-2 win over Hawaii-Hilo in women's tennis at Turlock, Calif., yesterday.

Preikschas won her No. 1 singles match against Eve Castaing of the Vulcans (6-4) and teamed up with Katie Eng to win in No. 1 doubles.

Christie Pagatpatan and Justine Abella scored UHH's points with victories in Nos. 2 and 4 singles.

The Warriors improved to 1-1.

Hilo golfers finish 12th in California

Zady Ari and Jesus Valdivia are tied for 46th place with three-round totals of 234 for Hawaii-Hilo in the Notre Dame de Namur Invitational at Belmont, Calif., yesterday.

The Vulcans finished 12th in the 15-team tournament, which was won by Chicago State.
