Fire forces military families to move
It took federal firefighters more than three hours to extinguish a single home fire Thursday night at the 200-unit Camp Stover naval housing complex in Wheeler Army Air Field.
Federal firefighters responded to the blaze at 9:18 p.m. It started in the second-floor bedroom of a home, occupied by a Navy family, that was part of a cluster of four homes. Firefighters secured the area by 12:21 a.m.
One Navy and three Army families live in the complex. No one was injured.
But the Navy family of four that lived in the affected home, and one of the Army families, had to be relocated.
The cause and extent of damage are still under investigation.

Woman charged in ambulance case
Prosecutors charged a 23-year-old Punchbowl woman yesterday who allegedly drove off with an ambulance while paramedics were in the back of the ambulance treating a patient.
Saralyn Lopes was arrested Thursday afternoon at Ilalo Street and Forrest Avenue and was charged later with second-degree robbery and second-degree assault. She is being held on $20,000 bail.
Lopes got into the driver's seat of the city ambulance and allegedly threatened the paramedics with physical force if they did not get out of the vehicle, police said.
But before they and the patient had time to get out, the woman allegedly began driving the ambulance, police said.
Lopes allegedly assaulted one of the paramedics who tried to pull the keys out of the ignition. The paramedics eventually stopped the ambulance.
