Beat goes on as percussionists take stage

Percussionists Riely Francis and Steve Dinion will beat the drum for the Honolulu Symphony at a free presentation tonight, as part of the “;Meet the Musicians”; series at Borders Ward Centre.

The concert preview, meant to share insights on the music-making process, takes place from 7 to 8 p.m. in the second-floor stage area of the music department. The musicians will talk about their own involvement in music, demonstrate their instruments and discuss the role of the percussion section in the orchestra.

They'll also offer a preview of upcoming concerts, and a pair of tickets to a symphony concert will be given away.
