Hawaii captures Bankoh tourney

Hawaii went 5-0 over the weekend to win the Bank of Hawaii Invitational at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

The Rainbow Wahine (6-11) won two games yesterday—20-0 over Mount Saint Mary's and 13-4 over Tokyo.

UH's Tanisha Milca hit a homer and drove in six runs against Mount Saint Mary's, while Stephanie Ricketts pitched a one-hitter.

Clare Warwick doubled and drove in three runs to power the Rainbow Wahine against Tokyo.

Ricketts was picked as the tournament's most valuable player, and Hawaii pitcher Courtney Baughman, infielders Amanda Tauali'i and Dara Pagaduan, outfielders Milca and Alex Aguirre and Makani Duhaylonsod (at-large) made the all-tournament team.

Leilehua's Jenkins picks Idaho State

Leilehua cross country standout Bryce Jenkins signed a letter of intent with Idaho State. He will run cross country and track for the Bengals, while studying nursing.

The senior runner for the Mules was a three-time state champion and twice was named the Gatorade Hawaii runner of the year. He won every cross country race he entered since his freshman year at Leilehua. He also helped Leilehua capture two state championships.

Blanchard advances at Snapper Rocks

Hawaii's Alana Blanchard won her heat today in the Roxy Pro surf contest at Snapper Rocks in Australia.

Blanchard moved all the way to the third round with the victory in the Association of Surfing Professionals World Championship Tour contest.

Coco Ho, Melanie Bartels and Megan Abubo failed to win their heats, but made it to the second round.

HPU and UHH split in baseball

Hawaii-Hilo and Hawaii Pacific split a college baseball doubleheader yesterday at Wong Stadium.

In the first game, Matt Haasenritter went 4-for-4 and Tyler Simao gave up six hits in 4 2/3 innings to lead the way in Hawaii-Hilo's 11-5 victory.

In the second game, Toby Inouye hurled a seven-inning six-hitter in the Sea Warriors' 8-0 win. Blake Amaral and Jonah Hobson both went 2-for-3 for HPU.

Hawaii-Hilo splits with Lock Haven

Hawaii-Hilo and Lock Haven split a softball doubleheader yesterday at Hilo.

Kristen Erd pitched a complete-game four-hitter to lead Lock Haven to a 2-1 victory in the first game.

In the second game, the Vulcans' Christina Pedroza did the same trick with a four-hitter in a 1-0 win.
