This collection of essays looks at the history and roles of Asians as settlers in Hawaii. Contributions came from writers in a variety of fields, examining this topic and its impact on native Hawaiians.

Essays range from analyses of Japanese, Korean and Filipino settlement to accounts of Asian-settler practices in the Legislature, the prison industrial complex and the U.S. military; critiques of Asian settlers' claims; and Hawaii in literature and the visual arts.

Several contributors will speak at a book signing from 2 to 3:30 p.m. next Sunday at Borders Ward Centre.

In addition to co-editors Fujikane and Okamura, also scheduled to join in the discussion are Haunani Kay-Trask, Momi Kamahele, Eiko Kosasa and Dean Saranillio.
