The Hawaii football team will hold two scrimmages during spring practice in April, the first on Maui and the second closing the Warriors' spring schedule.

The Warriors will make their first appearance on Maui since 2001 when they hold an intrasquad scrimmage at Maui's War Memorial Stadium on April 11. The scrimmage is tentatively set for 11 a.m., with an autograph session to follow.

“;As I repeatedly tell our players, we represent the state of Hawaii,”; UH coach Greg McMackin said. “;We're very excited about scrimmaging on a neighbor island and allowing our fans on Maui to see us in person. We have many great fans there and this is our chance to thank them personally for their support.”;

Hawaii last made an appearance on Maui in 2001, when the Warriors opened the season against Montana.

No state funds will be used to send the Warriors to Maui. Expenses will be covered through donations from McDonald's and Oceanic Time Warner Cable and support from Hawaiian Airlines, Panda Travel and the Maui County.

The team will close spring practice with the “;Warrior Bowl”; scrimmage on April 25 at Aloha Stadium. An autograph session is set for 1 p.m., with the scrimmage scheduled to start at 3. Admission will be free.

Spring practice begins March 30 at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletic Complex.
