Mai'lika Napoleon smiled broadly despite the cut on her chin, the dot of blood on her Kapaa jersey.

“;Killer,”; she said, when asked about the physicality of the just-completed battle with Kahuku. “;But it all comes down to suicides, sprints in practice. None of the girls like them, but they can help you in the game.”;

Napoleon scored 20 points as the Warriors proved tough and full of stamina and upset the No. 1-seeded Red Raiders 60-56 in a Division II state quarterfinal game last night at Kalani. It was one of the school's biggest basketball victories.

“;We knew we had a chance, because we've got heart,”; said center Jondi Das, who scored 17 points. “;Kauai is a small island, but we have heart.”;

Kapaa (10-0) plays Molokai in a semifinal tonight at Kalani.

“;It boiled down to them making more plays than us,”; Kahuku coach David Te'o said. The Raiders dropped to 14-2.
