Suspect arrested in armed robbery

Police arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with an armed robbery in October with four other suspects.

On the evening of Oct. 28, a 21-year-old man was at Aala Park watching a friend's vehicle when he was approached by five men in a white pickup truck.

Police said one of the men allegedly brandished a handgun while another demanded money and keys. Because the victim had no money, he gave him the keys to his friend's vehicle.

After an investigation, one of the five men was identified. He was booked yesterday on suspicion of first-degree robbery.

Suspected drugs were also found in his possession, and he also was booked on suspicion of second-degree promoting dangerous drugs.

Woman allegedly stole from friend

A 23-year-old woman was arrested yesterday after she allegedly stole from an acquaintance's home.

At about 4 a.m. Feb. 10, a 26-year-old man invited two acquaintances to his Makiki area home, one of them being the suspect. When they had left, the victim discovered some belongings were missing.

At about 9 p.m. yesterday the victim saw the suspect in Waikiki and called police. She was arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft.

Hotel gives key to fake boyfriend

Police arrested a 25-year-old man yesterday who allegedly stole personal items from another man staying at a Waikiki hotel.

On Dec. 7 the man met the victim at his hotel room and agreed to meet at a bar later, police said. The victim went to the bar, but the suspect never showed up.

When the victim returned at 4:55 the same morning, he found items missing from the room. He found the hotel had given a duplicate key to the suspect, who was posing as his boyfriend, police said.

The hotel reimbursed the victim. During the investigation, the suspect was identified in a police lineup and arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary.

Alleged attack breaks tooth

A 37-year-old man was arrested yesterday for allegedly bashing a woman's face into a wall at their Honolulu residence.

Police said that at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 23, the man, of no local address, grabbed the 40-year-old woman's head and slammed her face into a wall. The woman's front left tooth was broken off. At the time, the man was living with the woman at a Honolulu address.

Police arrested the man yesterday in Waikiki at 7:30 a.m. on suspicion of second-degree assault.

Youths arrested after school brawl

Two boys were arrested yesterday during a brawl at Waianae High School, police said.

At 1:12 p.m. a caller reported that about 100 students were gathering by the football field, police said. Responding officers found a large fight.

One juvenile was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct, and another was booked on suspicion of harassment.

Police did not say whether the juveniles were students of the school. No injuries were reported. The school's principal did not return calls yesterday.

Hit-and-run driver is sought on Maui

Maui police are looking for the driver in a hit-and-run crash yesterday that killed a 43-year-old visitor.

The victim has been identified as Aigars Gulibis of the Republic of Latvia, according to a Maui police report.

The crash happened at about 12:20 a.m. on Hana Highway, east of the 7-mile marker in Kaua.

Police said the unidentified vehicle was probably heading east on the highway when it hit Gulibis, who was on or near the roadway.

The driver failed to stop and render aid. Police said Gulibis died at the scene.
