“;I thought it was an animal that was trapped underneath, but I looked and it was a girl,”; said Imo of Ewa Beach.

Imo and his brother-in-law pulled over, told the driver to put the car in “;park,”; and jacked the vehicle up to take the weight off the victim. Imo said the woman's leg was pinned by one of the rear tires.

The victim, a 23-year-old woman, was in serious condition after being struck by the SUV and dragged a few feet while she was crossing in a crosswalk.

At 9:09 a.m., a 38-year-old woman, driving the SUV, was making a left turn from South King onto Piikoi at a green light.

Police said the driver did not see the victim headed east in the crosswalk, and struck her.

Witnesses said the victim was dragged several feet from the crosswalk before the driver came to a stop.

Police said the victim suffered multiple abrasions and broken bones. She was transferred to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition, however her condition improved. She is now in serious condition.

Police blocked off Piikoi from South King to Young streets during their investigation. The driver declined to comment.
