OHA grants drug court $24,000 to help clients

Friends of the Maui Drug Court has been awarded a two-year $24,000 grant from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs to provide child care, dental treatment and medical exams to Maui/Molokai Drug Court clients. Approximately 60 percent of Drug Court clients are native Hawaiian.

The grant also will be used to train professionals, fund an executive director position and research.


John Kim of Honolulu was selected by the U.S. Treasury Department to serve on the nationwide Taxpayer Advocacy Panel as one of 100 volunteers.

Young Brothers, Ltd. announced the following promotions: Victor “;Steve”; Renstrom to manager, freight operations. He will oversee freight operations statewide. His experience includes various positions and 14 years with Island Movers, Inc.; Chad Brunner to Hilo port manager. Brunner will oversee the daily operations at Hilo. He will also have financial responsibility for the freight operations. His experience includes warehouse supervisor and senior assistant store manager for Dependable Hawaiian Express.
