4 men wanted in home invasion

Police are looking for four men wearing black hooded jackets who allegedly tied up a Wahiawa couple at gunpoint during a home-invasion robbery late Sunday.

Police said the suspects entered the home, at 133 Kilea Place, between 11:15 and 11:45 p.m. They bound the victims, a 27-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, searched their home and took items and money, police said. The men fled in the woman's car, police said.

The vehicle was found abandoned on Mililani Cemetery Road, police said.

The first suspect was described as in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall. The second was described as between 18 and 20 years old, between 5 feet 4 and 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighing about 120 pounds. The third was about 6 feet tall, weighing about 160 pounds. The fourth suspect was in his mid-20s, between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall, and weighed about 190 pounds.

In addition to the jackets, all the suspects wore jeans and tennis shoes, police said.

Fire in homeless camp was arson

Firefighters extinguished a fire yesterday at a homeless encampment near Kawainui Marsh in Kailua.

The fire, reported at about 4:30 p.m., created a lot of black smoke, likely due to the large amount of plastics, including tarpaulins, at the two affected campsites, said fire Capt. Terry Seelig. It was extinguished in about 25 minutes, Seelig said.

A fire investigator found that the fire was intentionally set, Seelig said.

The sites are in an area of overgrown hau bush along Kailua Road, a half-mile above Kihapai Street and about 100 to 200 yards from the first church closest to Kailua town.

A pastor at a nearby church said there is a “;good (size) population of homeless”; living in that area.
