Easter baskets will aid military families
Easter Sunday—April 12—might be many weeks away, but when the mission is Easter baskets for hundreds of military families, it's not too early to kick-start the effort.
Operation Homefront of Hawaii launches its 2009 Easter program today, aiming to provide holiday baskets for children whose parents serve in the military.
Donations of baskets, Easter grass, candy, small toys and similar items will be collected at Lex Brodie's Queen Street and Pearlridge branches, Airgas Gaspro, Diamond Head Self Storage and the Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange Aloha Desk through March 27.
The baskets will be distributed at an egg hunt on March 29.
Donations may also be made online at www.operationhomefront.net (click on “;Hawaii chapter”; and marking your donation “;Easter Basket Program”;).
Military families interested in participating in the egg hunt should register between March 11 and 27 at www.operationhomefront.net/hawaii or call 469-7427.
