Police are investigating two pedestrian deaths, including an early morning hit-and-run accident that killed an 83-year-old Aiea woman yesterday.

Vehicle homicide investigators are looking for what witnesses said was a white Cadillac or similar vehicle that struck and killed the woman, whose name has not yet been released.

The hit-and-run accident happened on Kaonohi Street at about 2:20 a.m. yesterday.

Police said the woman was walking uphill on the roadway outside of a crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle headed downhill toward Kamehameha Highway.

The woman was taken to the Queen's Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The accident occurred in a lighted area with light traffic amid dry weather. Police said speed is a possible factor.

Within 24 hours two pedestrians have died on Oahu’s roadways and one woman is in critical condition after a motorcycle accident.

The woman is the 11th traffic fatality this year, compared with seven at this time last year.

Police said the suspect's vehicle might have damage in the front right area, including its headlight and windshield.

At about 7:30 p.m. Friday night, a 63-year-old man was struck by a tour bus while in a crosswalk at the intersection of South Beretania and McCully streets, said Sgt. Alan Vegas of the vehicle homicide section.

The man was initially taken to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition. He died of his injuries yesterday morning, Vegas said. It was the 10th traffic fatality of the year.

Police have opened a negligent homicide investigation. The city Medical Examiner's Office had not released the identity of the victim last night.
