Clinton Portis can't wait.

No, not for his second Pro Bowl on Sunday, or bonding with fellow NFL all-stars in the meantime.

He can't wait for shark diving.

Portis' teammate on the Washington Redskins, former Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan, is planning the undersea thrill for sometime in the coming days.

“;Me and Colt (talked) about going swimming with some sharks,”; Portis said. “;Get in a little tank, and do a shark adventure. I'm excited about it, Colt's setting it up. Hopefully we get to do it.”;

When asked if there is a clause in his contract forbidding such activities, Portis said, “;I mean, I'm going to be in a cage! If a shark bites through the cage and they can't pull me up in time, I deserved it, boy,”; he said.

Brennan is looking forward to the shark tank, too.

“;It's gonna be a great time. I'm gonna make sure to videotape it for our teammates,”; he said.

Portis is also looking forward to Brennan showcasing more of his potential next season. As a rookie, Brennan was impressive in the preseason but, as the Redskins' third-stringer, didn't get into a regular-season game.

“;Now that he's healthy I think he feels like he's one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL,”; Portis said. “;He deserves a shot. When he gets his shot, I think he'll go out and be real exciting.”;

Portis rushed for 1,487 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and nine TDs in 2008 for the Redskins.

Gonzalez shares wisdom

It's fallen upon Kansas City tight end Tony Gonzalez to supply some veteran know-how to the next generation. He's tied with Baltimore linebacker Ray Lewis on the active AFC roster for most Pro Bowls at 10.

He's more than happy to do it. There are a whopping 21 first-timers on the AFC roster (compared to 16 for the NFC), so his knowledge figures to be put to good use.

“;You never know (if you'll be back), so I always tell them, you gotta have fun with the moment,”; Gonzalez said.

“;The first day, we're trying to throw the ball around, get acquainted with the playbook, get to know it. By the end of the week, you see guys coming together and have camaraderie, just like a regular football team. It starts in the locker room, it starts out there when you have a dinner. When you get on the field, it just has that special feeling. Hopefully it'll make us play better and hopefully we win.”;

Gonzalez went for 1,058 yards and 10 touchdowns (one off his career best) for the Chiefs. He's slated to start on Sunday.

Welker, Willis promotion

Pro Bowlers Wes Welker (New England) and Patrick Willis (San Francisco) will introduce an educational computer game called “;Financial Football”; today with Hawaii Lt. Gov. Duke Aiona.

Welker, a Patriots receiver, and Willis, a 49ers linebacker, will be at the Farrington High library at 2 p.m. to show off the game. The NFL-themed money-management product is slated for distribution to every public Hawaii high school and library.
