Pimpbot will have Hawaii company at SXSW
POSTED: Friday, January 30, 2009
LOOKS LIKE the guys from Pimpbot aren't the only Hawaii-based musicians heading to the South By Southwest Music Conference this year.
This column broke the news on Jan. 9, more than two weeks before an a SXSW representative got in touch to provide a list of all artists involved in 2009. An e-mail from Phil Tripp confirmed that John Cruz, One Right Turn, David Tamaoka and Anuhea Jenkins will also make the trip to Austin, Texas, in March.
Loyal readers will recognize One Right Turn's appearance as another leg of the band's “;50 States in 2009”; tour, while Jenkins shares the same management and Cruz hails from the same family One Right Turn's Connie Cruz and Tiffa Garza. It's nice to see that after a few years of not being involved in SXSW, members of Hawaii's music industry are making moves across the Pacific Ocean.
Let's hope this is the start of a regular pipeline of talent to an annual event that can launch artists' careers into the stratosphere ...
