Photographer will discuss exhibit

Fine arts photographer Susan Middleton will share insights behind her series of photos, “;Archipelago & Remains of the Rainbow”; today at the ARTS at Marks Garage.

The photos were a project of the Hawaii Arts Alliance and will be on exhibit at the gallery through Saturday.

The free event, sponsored in part by the Andy Warhol Foundation, with recognition given to the Nature Conservancy of Hawaii, begins at 7 p.m. and includes complimentary wine and cheese.

Land and sea portraits of plants and animals by David Liittschwager and Middleton, who are fine-art photographers and environmentalists, are being exhibited together for the first time at the gallery. Books and prints are available for purchase.

The ARTS at Marks Garage is located at 1159 Nuuanu Ave. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Saturday.

'Anteprima X Hello Kitty' makes it to Hawaii

Anteprima Plastiq will be introducing its limited-edition “;Anteprima X Hello Kitty”; collaboration collection beginning Saturday at its Ala Moana and Royal Hawaiian center stores.

The collection includes Anteprima's wirebags, charm, necklace and parasol, designed with glittering wire mesh. Anteprima Plastiq was started by designer Izumi Ogino to bring fun and joy to women, just as Hello Kitty brings a smile to children and adults alike.

Hunger foundation holds benefit

Feed the Hunger Foundation, a new movement to help women in Third World countries rise out of poverty, has launched and is hosting a celebration and benefit from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Shanghai Tang at Ala Moana Center.

The benefit, free and open to the public, will highlight the foundation's aims, with cocktails and pupu hosted by Shanghai Tang. In addition, the boutique will donate 10 percent of sales generated through Jan. 31 to the foundation.
