UH football centennial celebration set

The Hawaii football program kicks off the 100th anniversary of its first season on Feb. 4 with a street party that coincides with national letter of intent signing day.

The free event is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Merchant Street fronting Murphy's Bar & Grill. Warriors head coach Greg McMackin will discuss the signees and show video highlights.

It also marks the first day fans can place a $50 deposit on new season tickets. Deposits can be paid online at HawaiiAthletics.com.

This will be the 93rd season for Hawaii football. The school did not field a team from 1912 to 1914, 1942 to 1945, and in 1961.
