Schools recognized for beautification efforts

The inaugural 2008 Cooke Foundation Beautification Awards recognized King Intermediate School, Lahainaluna High School and Innovations Public Charter School on the Big Island for completing projects that enhanced their overall appearance.
The Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation was the fiscal sponsor of the awards program.
Winners of the Honolulu Board of Water Supply's 31st annual 2008 Water Conservation Week Poster Contest for students in kindergarten to sixth grade are: first place, Austin Montgomery of Puohala Elementary School, in the fifth- and sixth-grade category; Gianna Ramiscal of Mililani Waena Elementary School, second grade; and Andrew Durand of Mililani Mauka Elementary School, both in the third- and fourth-grade categories.
American Savings Bank partnered with the YWCA Hawaii's “;Ways to Work”; program, which assists individuals with vehicle loans, to donate cars to two Oahu families.
Team Clean named Michael Young as sales manager. His 10 years of experience in the hotel and housekeeping services industry include project manager for Ala Moana Center.
