UNLV freshman Jamie Smith ('Iolani '08) got some recent love from ESPN, but she isn't the only youngster from Hawaii running rampant in college basketball.

Fresh off a 19-point performance on 6-for-8 shooting in a road win over San Jose State, Idaho's Shaena-Lyn Kuehu (Punahou '08) found herself back in the starting lineup and had 12 points and three rebounds in a 55-52 win over Fresno State.

The win propelled the Vandals to a 3-1 record in the Western Athletic Conference, tying their best start ever in league play.

Picked to finish last in the WAC preseason coaches poll, the surprising Vandals have won three in a row heading into tonight's game against Louisiana Tech, the first of a three-game homestand.

Kuehu is third in the WAC in 3-point percentage and 19th in scoring, but those numbers should only increase as her minutes go up.

In four WAC games, Kuehu is averaging 14 points and nearly six boards while playing 25 minutes a game. She's scored in double digits in each of the last five games.
