'Angry Woebot' at museum cafe

Urban artist Aaron “;Angry Woebot”; Martin is painting a mural on the wall of the Contemporary Cafe at the Contemporary Museum, a creative effort that rises to the level of performance art.

Martin's progress may be followed by cafe diners or by those visiting the museum from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today and tomorrow.

Martin—known for the panda paintings and vinyl toys that gave him the “;Angry Woebot”; name—has been touring the nation with the Pocket Full of Monsters crew of artists doing live painting, signings, group shows and custom orders.

His work is carried in several West Coast galleries from Seattle to Los Angeles. Martin recently was asked to paint a portrait of President Obama for an exhibition at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. Martin's image featured Obama making a shaka, with the word HOPE across the top of the portrait.
