Wedding Cafe workshops offer tips for brides
The Wedding Cafe is offering an array of workshops for brides-to-be on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. beginning in January and February. This week's “;Pretty Bride”; includes a hair and makeup showcase and fashion show.
Other workshops: “;Weddings 101: Budget, Timeline & Planning,”; Jan. 28; “;Tabletop and Decor Showcase,”; Feb. 4; “;Photo Showcase,”; Feb. 11; “;Invites, Favors & Registry Showcase,”; Feb. 18; “;Videography Showcase,”; Feb. 25.

Cafe owner Tanna Dang is also promoting her new book, “;Wedding Belles: Ideas & Inspiration from Island Brides,”; with tips for all manner of wedding-day details. She will sign the book at these locations:

Library marks Poe's birthday
Mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Edgar Allan Poe on Thursday at the Hawaii State Library.
“;Happy 200th Birthday, Mr. Poe”; will be held at 6 p.m. in the first-floor reading room, featuring storytelling by Ed Chevy, with interpretive reader Michelle Morris.
Chevy, a deaf musician, composer and humorist, specializes in Poe's gothic tales.
He and Morris will tell three of Poe's classics—“;The Pit and the Pendulum, “;The Raven”; and “;The Fall of the House of Usher.”;
The event is free, suited to ages 12 and older. Call 586-3499.
Saint Andrew's books organist
Angela Kraft Cross, an organist, pianist and composer from San Francisco, will perform at 12:15 p.m. tomorrow at the Cathedral Church of Saint Andrew.
Saint Andrew's offers a weekly Wednesday concert of chamber music and choral works, often featuring the church's Aeolian Skinner pipe organ.
Admission is free; brown-bag lunches are welcome.
