”;Supernatural Hawaii”;
By Judi Thompson / Schiffer / $16.99
That bump in the night. The shadow you swear you saw move. Did you just hear that?
Tales of the supernatural abound in Hawaii. Everyone knows someone who woke up feeling as though they were being choked, unable to move or scream.
Judi Thompson interviewed old-timers throughout Hawaii and compiled their stories of encounters with spirits and haunted areas. From Kalaupapa to the fire station on South Street, the scenes are familiar yet still manage to produce chicken skin. Even in broad daylight.
The stories were recorded by Thompson, who was researching stories for another publication. She was intrigued and continued collecting the stories to make this larger compilation.
From night marchers to floating blue lights to encounters with menehune, the stories are diverse and engaging. Something good to read by candlelight next time the power goes out.
