Grants support abused children

The Kukui Children's Foundation received the following grants for the creation of a social services center to help abused children, called the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation Kukui Center, in Chinatown: City and County of Honolulu, $3.5 million; U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, $445,000; Office of Hawaiian Affairs, $50,000; Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, $800,000; Mary D. and Walter F. Frear Eleemosynary Trust, $250,000; Atherton Family Foundation, $150,000; Strong Foundation, Victoria S. and Bradley L. Geist Foundation, each $100,000; McInerny Foundation, Hawaii Women's Legal Foundation, Consuelo Foundation, each $50,000; Bank of Hawaii Foundation, $35,000; Cooke Foundation Ltd., $25,000; Macy's West, $15,000; Makana o Maui Fund, $10,000; Alexander & Baldwin Foundation, $7,500; Schuler Family Foundation, $6,000; DR Horton/ Schuler Homes LL, $2,500; Rotary Club of Waikiki, $1,500.
Individual donations came from Karen and Bob White, Sue and Al Landon, Deborah Stanley, Pat and Alan Kay, Bernice Earle and Judy Lind, Barbara and John R. Dwyer Jr. and Pauline and Clyde Namu'o.
Outrigger Enterprises Group named Sun Bee as director of online distribution and marketing of its interactive commerce division. Her experience includes director of sales and marketing for the Embassy Suites-Waikiki Beach Walk and regional market director-Hawaii, Asia and Pacific for Orbitz.com.
