Bank, utilities boost museum hall

Bishop Museum received $100,000 from Hawaiian Electric Industries and its subsidiaries, Hawaiian Electric Co. and American Savings Bank, which will go toward the restoration of Hawaiian Hall.
The Hawaii Theatre Center hired Kathy Christensen as information manager. She had been development manager at the Contemporary Museum for 10 years.
First Hawaiian Bank Senior Vice President Brian N. Sunada joined the board of the Friends of the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii. He is a past president and former board member of the American Cancer Society Honolulu Unit.
More than $20,000 was raised by the Merriman's Waimea fundraising event “;20 Nights for 20 Nonprofits”; Nov. 1 through Dec. 12, in celebration of the restaurant's 20th anniversary. Merriman's has distributed a total of $20,491 to 20 nonprofits, including North Hawaii Hospice, Hawaii Island United Way, Kahilu Theatre and the Merriman's Culinary Scholarship.
