Maui man, 20, dies of crash injuries
WAILUKU » A 20-year-old Maui man who was confined at Maui Memorial Medical Center for 10 days after a single-vehicle crash has died.
Jonathan Ferrer of Kihei died Wednesday, following the crash of a pickup truck on Dec. 28.
Police said the vehicle driven by Ferrer was traveling southwest on Mokulele Highway when it crashed into a cement island and a post on the northwest corner of North Kihei Road. Ferrer's death raises to 24 the number of fatalities for 2008, compared with 21 in 2007.

Teen arrested in Pearl City robberies
Police arrested a 15-year-old boy who allegedly robbed four other teenagers yesterday.
Police said that suspect approached the other teens at about 5 p.m. in Pearl City and demanded money. Police said the suspect took money from a 14-year-old boy before fleeing.
Shortly afterward, police got a call about a fight involving several boys. The robbery suspect was among them, police said, and was identified by the four teenagers he had allegedly confronted earlier.
Police arrested him on suspicion of four counts of first-degree robbery.

Phone talk betrays alleged car thief
Police arrested a 25-year-old Waipahu man Saturday after he allegedly parked a stolen car in the parking lot of the Pearl City Police Station.
After the man parked the car, he and a 17-year-old boy got out and were walking away when an officer overheard the man talking on his cell phone, telling someone that the car did not belong to him.
The officer checked on the car and learned that it had indeed been reported stolen.
The officer arrested the driver on suspicion of auto theft and arrested the teenager on suspicion of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.

Man accused of attacking girlfriend
Police arrested a 26-year-old man after he allegedly beat his girlfriend early today in Wahiawa.
Shortly before 1 a.m. the suspect and his 23-year-old girlfriend were drinking and arguing at the intersection of Kilani Avenue and North Cane Street.
Police said the suspect slapped, punched and choked the woman. Police arrested him on suspicion of felony abuse.
