EXERCISE FOR AWARENESS
Bike, walk or run to promote awareness of epilepsy
Gather the family together on Jan. 25 for a day of fun and awareness at the 7th annual Sharon's Ride for Epilepsy.
The event will be taking place at seven sites across the country, but Dr. Rosenfeld, Sharon's brother, and his family will attend the Honolulu event.
Sharon Rosenfeld was killed in 1993 during a cross-country bicycle ride. She was a nurse and teacher who devoted much of her life to her epilepsy patients.
The ride/walk courses begin at Kapiolani Community College, Diamond Head side; 100 and 75-km bike rides to Kailua begin at 7 a.m.; 35- and 10-km rides to Kalama Valley begin at 8 a.m.; and 10- and 5-km runs into Diamond Head Crater begin at 7:30 a.m. There also will be a one-mile walk to Triangle Park and back for those in a wheelchair, with strollers or pets on a leash.
Registration begins at 6 a.m. Fee for the ride is $35 per person, which goes up to $40 after Thursday. The run/walk costs $30 per person, which rises to $35 after Thursday; the family rate for the ride/run/walk (up to five people) is $70, which goes up to $80 after Thursday. Tyga gig postponed
Concert promoter BAMP Project announced yesterday that “;due to unforeseen circumstances, the Tyga concert has been postponed until further notice.”;
The show, featuring the Compton, Calif.-based rapper, was originally scheduled for 10 p.m. today at Pipeline Cafe.
Those who have already prepaid for Tyga tickets will be refunded the full amount, said the promoter in a press release.
