Relive the tastes of Elvis at restaurant celebration
Elvis Presley's food fantasies were legendary, like him and his music.
MAC 24-7 at the Hilton Waikiki/Prince Kuhio celebrates the legacy of the King on Thursday with a day of festivities and menu items suited to rock royalty.
The celebration marks the 74th anniversary of Presley's birth, on Jan. 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Miss.
From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., MAC 24-7 will serve Presley's favorite foods, including the Elvis Delight, a golden fried banana, bacon and peanut butter sandwich, with a slice of sweet potato pie ($14.50); the King Special, featuring meatloaf with fried okra, tomato sauce and hominy grits ($18); and Elvis MAC-Daddy Pancakes topped with crisp bacon, bananas and peanut butter sauce ($14).
Presley's music and movies will play throughout the day—look for “;Blue Hawaii,”; “;Girls Girls Girls”; and “;Paradise, Hawaiian Style.”;
Diners are invited to dress as Elvis of any era. Prizes will be offered, including a hotel stay and a $75 MAC 24-7 food and beverage credit.
The restaurant is in the Hilton Waikiki/Prince Kuhio, 2500 Kuhio Ave. Call 922-0811.
