'Iolani's Chan gets spot in Sony Open
Amateur Lorens Chan, a 14-year-old freshman at 'Iolani, has qualified for the Sony Open in Hawaii, tournament spokesman Bill Bachran said.
Chan made the field of the PGA Tour's first full-field event by coming out on top among the 12 members of the Amateur Governor's Cup Team in a qualifying round yesterday at Waialae Country Club, site of the Sony Open.
The tournament will be contested Jan. 15-18.
Clemens' name removed from clinic
HOUSTON » Roger Clemens' name is being removed from a sports medicine institute at a Houston hospital in another dent to the legacy of the major league baseball pitcher since he was linked to steroid use.
The Roger Clemens Institute for Sports Medicine at Memorial Hermann will shed Clemens' name effective Jan. 1 “;to better reflect its commitment to all sports and athletes,”; the Houston-based health system said.

Yonamine to speak in Kahala
Wally Yonamine will be at the Kahala Nui retirement community on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. to answer questions and discuss his new book, Wally Yonamine: The Man Who Changed Japanese Baseball.
Yonamine was the first American to play professional baseball in Japan and was known for his hitting and aggressive play.
