Military get in free at Sony Open

Hawaii's active duty and retired military personnel are being offered free admission to next month's Sony Open in Hawaii golf tournament at Waialae Country Club.

The tickets for the tournament, Jan. 12-18, are courtesy of Friends of Hawaii Charities and sponsor Pasha.

Quarterback Club on holiday break

The Honolulu Quarterback Club's weekly meetings are on hold during the holidays.

The club's next meeting is Monday, Jan. 12, at the Pagoda Hotel.

Hawaii Pacific routs Fontbonne

Mana Hopkins scored a game-high 25 points to lead Hawaii Pacific over Fontbonne 78-54 in a nonconference women's basketball game at McKinley High gym.

It was the largest margin of victory in the history of the Sea Warriors program. HPU improved to 3-8, and the Lady Griffins dropped to 2-8.
