Take a breather on Kauai in January, coinciding with the fifth annual Kauai Wellness Expo 2009, with keynote speaker Deepak Chopra, the expert on mind-body wellness.

The expo, with more than 100 exhibitors and 30 speakers, runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 24-25 at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Center, at 4191 Hardy St. in Lihue.

General admission is $5 per day or $8 for both days.

The next evening, Jan. 26, Chopra attends a VIP reception from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by a talk and book signing from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $125 for the VIP reception or $50 for the lecture and book-signing only.

New this year is the Women's Health and Empowerment Workshop, scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 24 in the KWMCC Theatre. The fee is $15 per class, or $35 for the day.
