Man, 40, shot in the arm in Makaha
A man in his 40s received a gunshot wound to the arm Friday afternoon in Makaha.
He was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in stable condition, police said. The man was uncooperative, offering no help in finding a suspect late Friday, police said.
Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the Honolulu Emergency Services Department, said paramedics were called at 2:22 p.m. and found the man on Lahaina Street. Police said the man may have been shot by a shotgun, but that was unconfirmed.

Former boyfriend charged in chase
A 32-year-old Waialua man was charged yesterday after allegedly chasing his ex-girlfriend at high speed and ramming her vehicle.
Justice Miner of 67-205 Farrington Highway was charged with first-degree criminal property damage and held in lieu of $15,000 bail.
Police said that at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Miner pursued his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend after seeing her with another man in her car in Waialua.
He chased her in his truck at more than 80 mph, ramming the rear of her car several times, police said. Police arrested Miner at his home on Farrington Highway.
Miner has two petty misdemeanor convictions for operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant and disorderly conduct.

3 alleged beatings lead to arrest
Police arrested a 35-year-old man who allegedly beat a woman and her two children.
Police said that at about 10 a.m. Thursday, the man and woman were arguing in their Waimanalo home. The man then allegedly assaulted the woman, 33, breaking two of her ribs.
Police said the suspect then hit the children, a 13-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy. Police were called and arrested the suspect on suspicion of second-degree assault and two counts of felony abuse.

Firefighters pick up 3 in drifting raft
Firefighters rescued three people adrift on a 14-foot rubber raft Friday near Keehi Boat Harbor.
The boaters called for help after their raft's engine shut down and the craft started drifting Ewa at about 2 p.m., Honolulu Fire Capt. Earle Kealoha said. A fire rescue craft brought the three ashore at about 2:30 p.m.

Kauai motorcyclist is critically hurt
A 49-year-old Koloa, Kauai, man was airlifted to Oahu in critical condition Wednesday after a motorcycle accident, according to a Kauai County news release.
Bret Knopf was hurt when he lost control of his motorcycle, slid and fell to the ground in the parking lot of Kukuiula Store in Poipu about 1:30 p.m.
He was not wearing a helmet, the release said.
Knopf was taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital and later transferred to the Queen's Medical Center.
Big Isle fire causes $13,000 in damage
A generator explosion yesterday started a fire that caused $13,000 in damage to part of the Old Pohoiki Coffee Mill, Big Island firefighters said.
At about 8:30 a.m., firefighters used hand lines and tank water to extinguish flames in the generator shed and workshop area. No one was injured.
