Maui Ocean Center open on Christmas
Count down to Christmas with the conclusion of Maui Ocean Center's “;12 Days of FISHmas”; through Christmas Day, with special holiday festivities including a visit from Scuba Claus in the Open Ocean Exhibit.
Auntie Doll Aricayos will perform today, and Kupuna 'O Kihei is on stage Tuesday.
Presentations by naturalists will highlight marine animals including the Snowflake Eel, Candy Cane Shrimp and Christmas Wrasse, whose distinctive names stem from their appearance. The naturalists will hand out candy canes before and after presentations.
There will be a craft booth for kids ages 3 through 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, allowing them to make holiday-themed gifts for family members or friends.
The center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, offering families a place to entertain their children after the gifts are unwrapped Christmas Day. The center is at 192 Maalaea Road. Call (808) 270-7000. Visit www.mauioceancenter.com.
