There's nothing small about Tiny Gallon's game.

The 6-foot-9 senior from Oak Hill had eight points and nine rebounds in the third quarter alone as the Warriors opened up a close game against host 'Iolani in the second half, beating the Raiders 80-44 in the quarterfinals of the 'Iolani Classic yesterday.

Junior Doron Lamb led all scorers with 23 points and Gallon, an Oklahoma commit, finished with 13 points and 12 boards to lead Oak Hill, ranked fourth in the ESPN Fab 50.

“;We switched from our press to man in the second half and that proved to be a much better matchup for us,”; Oak Hill coach Steve Smith said. “;('Iolani) played very well considering they were at such a size disadvantage.”;

The Warriors had eight guys taller than 'Iolani's biggest player, but the Raiders weren't phased early on.

Pablo Warner, who led 'Iolani with 18 points, hit four 3-pointers in the first half. The lead changed hands four times in the second quarter, with the Raiders taking a 25-22 lead on a shot by Trevyn Tulonghari.

“;We executed so much better in the first half,”; 'Iolani coach Mark Mugiishi said. “;I was disappointed because the effort wasn't the same in the second half.”;

Oak Hill set the tone for the rest of the game by scoring the final eight points before half to take a 34-26 lead.

“;That was big at the end of the half,”; Smith said. “;Then we were able to get some quick buckets to start the second half, which really opened things up for us.”;

The Raiders handled Oak Hill's halfcourt press in the first half, getting wide-open looks at the basket. Oak Hill responded by putting a four-guard lineup on the floor in the second half, along with Gallon in the middle, and went to a straight man-to-man defense that kept 'Iolani from finding many open lanes to the basket.

“;We stayed cool and calm against the press, but they went to man and it really slowed us down,”; Warner said. “;We didn't focus like we needed to for the entire game and that's something we need to work on.”;

Oak Hill saved its best for last, outscoring 'Iolani 26-10 in the fourth quarter. Lamb had seven of his 23 in the final period and Austin Alecxih chipped in six.

Tulonghari finished with 11 points and sophomore Kainoa Scheer added seven points and seven boards.

In other games, Moanalua beat Maryknoll 48-44 behind Marcus Monroe's 24 points, Tsinghua beat Leilehua 54-23, Mid-Pacific barely beat McKinley 37-35 and Kamehameha overcame Kaimuki 60-57.

Fairfax shut down Putnam City 46-29.
