Celebrate Christmas at church

Christian churches large and small will celebrate the birth of Jesus in special services on Wednesday, Christmas Eve, and on Christmas Day.

All services are open to the public.

» Calvary Chapel Honolulu, 98-1016 Komo Mai Drive, Aiea. The 7 p.m. Wednesday service will feature traditional and contemporary music by the Sunday School children and the Praise Band and a message by the Rev. Bill Stonebraker.

» Calvary Chapel Pearl Harbor, 94-1044 Waipio Uka St., Waipahu. The musical play “;The Prince and the Pauper”; will be presented at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

» Christ Church Uniting, 1300 Kailua Road. The music and decor for the 7 p.m. Wednesday service will reflect traditions from the Orkney Islands of Scotland, home of the Rev. Fiona Lillie, exchange pastor, who will preach.

» Church of the Crossroads, 1212 University Ave. The 5:30 p.m. Wednesday service will feature a children's pageant, “;I Will Do My Part.”; At 10 p.m. Wednesday, there will be a traditional service of carols, lessons and candle-lighting.

» First Christian Church, 1516 Kewalo St. Waikiki entertainer “;Tommy D”; will sing his new composition “;The Holy Birth”; at the 7 p.m. Wednesday service. The Rev. Jimmy Hutcherson will preach.

» First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu, 45-550 Kionaole Road. Services will be held at 6 and 8 p.m. Tuesday and 4, 6 and 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Koolau Golf Course. The Rev. Dan Chun will preach and a Christmas choir will perform.

» Makiki Christian Church, 829 Pensacola St. The Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. will be followed by a reception with refreshments.

» New Hope Christian Fellowship. Christmas services at Farrington High School auditorium will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

» St. Andrew's Cathedral, Queen Emma Square. Christmas Eve will be celebrated in a 5 p.m. family Eucharist; 7 p.m. Eucharist with carols; and 10:30 p.m. vigil followed by the 11 p.m. Festival Mass. The Christmas Day Choral Eucharist will be at 10 a.m.

» Unity Church of Hawaii, 3608 Diamond Head Circle. A Wednesday candle-lighting service will be at 6 and 8 p.m.

» Windward United Church of Christ, 38 Kaneohe Bay Drive. The Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 7 p.m. will feature music by the Windward Chancel Singers directed by Tim Schultz.
