KHON-TV tops three rating periods

Major shake-ups in anchor lineups were undertaken in recent months. Pamela Young and Gary Sprinkle added the 6 p.m. weekday newscast at KITV, moving Paula Akana and Shawn Ching to 10 p.m. only. Ching left the station at the end of the ratings period to join a law firm.
KGMB highly promoted Kim Gennaula's last newscast, which also occurred on the last night of ratings. It has promoted Stacy Loe to weekdays and Lisa Kubota to weekends. Tannya Joaquin will join the station in February.
Election coverage early in the month also had an impact on local stations' ratings, which each measures in its own way depending on the times during which coverage was broadcast.
KHNL's parent company dictated budget and job cuts that were announced last week, leaving the station without a news director and resulting in the merging of the news, marketing and other departments into a single content department.
