Thanks to a witness, police recovered a police officer's gun and other equipment stolen Monday from the officer's Kapolei home.
Officers arrested a 23-year-old woman at a Waianae home where the items were found later Monday. She was held on suspicion of first-degree burglary and drug offenses.
A Kapolei resident returned home and observed a man, about 18 to 20, enter the Kapolei home at about 1:15 p.m. Monday. The neighbor also saw a woman seated in a red Honda Civic parked across from the officer's house.
The neighbor saw the man emerge from the house allegedly carrying some items. He then got into the car and drove off, police said.
The neighbor followed the car, but lost it, police said.
Police said the suspect had entered the officer's house by climbing onto a lower roof of a bedroom and breaking through a window.
Among the items stolen were the officer's service revolver, gun belt and radio.
Honolulu Police Department spokeswoman Michelle Yu said an inventory of the items stolen has not been completed yet and likely contained more than the officer's police equipment.
The man is described as between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall, weighing 140 to 160 pounds, with a slim build, fair complexion and short bleached hair.
The witness provided information to police that led to the woman's arrest and the recovery of the items. Yu did not know whether the man has been identified.
The Police Department did not provide further details.
