Fergerstrom's wreath best in show

Marshall K. Fergerstrom's wreath, “;Ka Hoku A Davida (Star of David),”; was named the overall best in show in the City and County of Honolulu's 23rd Annual Holiday Wreath Contest, winning a $200 prize. Other winning entries include: Adult Wreath Category - first place, Marla Kaiwi; second, Kathy Tosh; third, Marian Bernal; Youth Wreath Category - first, Papa Aalii, Kawaiahao Church School; second, Seagull Schools at Kapolei Building 4; third, Robert Louis Stevenson Middle School Video Art Computer Technology Class; Theme Category “;Holiday Heroes”; - first, Imelda Lynn Hill; second, Koolaupoko Hawaiian Civic Club; third, The Bridge Town Pier Group, The Bridge Church of the Nazarene.
American Savings Bank employees and family members worked with school staff to paint a Hawaiian-inspired tapa design along the main corridors of Stevenson Intermediate School as part of the bank's Seeds of Service program. Employees were from the commercial banking, corporate communications and marketing departments. Since the program's inception in 2005, employees have contributed more than 6,000 volunteer hours to local schools and nonprofit organizations.
