Richard Chamberlain reads from memoirs and kids' book
Actor Richard Chamberlain will offer readings from his memoir “;Shattered Love”; and his partner Martin Rabbet's children's book, “;Forever Buster,”; at three locations this weekend.
Rabbet's “;Forever Buster”; centers on the love and companionship that can be shared between a man and his dog, based on Rabbet's 12-year relationship with his white Labrador retriever.
Rabbet was the director of Hawaii Opera Theatre's “;The King and I”; production that starred Chamberlain and Broadway star Jan Maxwell in 2006.

Book fair features former governor
The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii is hosting a Holiday Book Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Authors will be available to chat with visitors and sign their books, which will be sold in the gift shop.
Participating authors include former Gov. George R. Ariyoshi (”;With Obligation to All”;), Jean Ariyoshi (”;Washington Place, A First Lady's Story”;), Joyce Chinen (”;Uchinaanchu Diaspora: Memories, Continuities, and Constructions”;), John R.K. Clark (”;Guardian of the Sea: Jizo in Hawai'i”;), Hazel Kazuko Arii Ho (”;One Cup Rice”;), Dorothy Ochiai Hazama and Jane Okamoto Komeiji (”;The Japanese in Hawai'i: Okage Sama De”;), Brian Sato (”;Gokurosama: Contemporary Photographs of the Nisei in Hawai'i”;) and Joe Tsujimoto (”;Morningside Heights: New York Stories”;).

Symphony hornist to explain his role
Jonathan Parrish, assistant principal French hornist for the Honolulu Symphony, will be featured at today's “;Meet the Musicians”; concert preview, 7 p.m. at Borders Ward Centre.
Parrish will share his music experiences and role with the orchestra. He will also preview the symphony's upcoming “;Peter and the Wolf”; concerts on Dec. 13 and 14 at Blaisdell Concert Hall. A pair of concert tickets will be given away.

Seniors fair offers Kupuna ID cards
Services for seniors will be featured at the Hawaii United Okinawa Association's first Seniors Fair, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.
Exhibits will cover services and products targeted at those age 50 and older, their families and caregivers, in areas of health, fitness, nutrition, legal and financial aid, government programs, travel and leisure, community service and volunteer opportunities.
Free workshops will be offered on Medicare and insurance, and Kupuna ID cards and flu shots will be available.
The first 500 to attend will receive a Hawaii quarter.
